News shows to watch at the Travel Channel

My friends know that I don’t really watch television that much, especially if it means having to sit through another mind-numbing teleserye (heaps of apologies, teleserye-loving friends).

I spend most of my free time blogging or  streaming something from the Internet, either Drama Cool for my Japanese and Korean fix. I’ve also recently discovered iFlix and has also been hooked since. For the times when I watch television, my favorite channels are all in cable: CNN, NHK, TVN, National Georgraphic, HBO (Game of Thrones, baby!), FOX (cause of the Walking Dead), any channel with Cookinh Shows and of course, The Travel Channel where I live vicariously from the awesome vagabond lives of others.

So I am excited to know the new line up of Travel Channel starting from June until the rest of July.

  • BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS (SEASON 3) – Premiered 17 June 2016, every Friday at 9.30pm (SG), 8.30pm (JKT/BKK)

Every traveler wants to try a crepe in Paris, gelato in Florence, fish ‘n’ chips in London or a Po’ Boy in New Orleans. But how many really know how these foods were invented, where they came from, how they are made, the right way to eat them and who makes the best ones? In an extension of his popular Bizarre Foods franchise, renowned chef and culinary explorer Andrew Zimmern digs into the not-to-be-missed legendary foods that define a location in the new series, Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations.

  • MYSTERIES AT THE MONUMENT (SEASON 3) – Premiered 14 June 2016, every Tuesday at 7.50pm(SG), 6.50pm (JKT/BKK)

Mysteries at the Monument host and history explorer Don Wildman investigates the world’s most impressive – and sometimes obscure – structures, statues and national parks to uncover incredible tales hidden within them. Through compelling interviews, archival footage and enthralling recreations, the series takes viewers on an arresting journey, and leaves them with trivia perfect for any social gathering.

    • WONDERFUL INDONESIA FLAVOURS (SEASON 2) – Premieres: 27 July 2016, every Wednesday at 7.50pm (SG), 6.50pm (JKT/TH)

A Travel Channel original, join celebrity chef Rinrin and Tobie Puttock once again as they explore the diverse cultures and traditions of Indonesia while traveling to five brand new destinations. From Lombok island to Jakarta city, Rinrin and Tobie will uncover the the country’s different regional cuisines, based upon its varied indigenous cultures and foreign influences. After each episode, Rinrin and Tobie will head back to the kitchen and whip up a selection of recipes based on their travel inspirations.

    • HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE (SEASON 6) –

      Premieres: 21 July 2016, every Thursday at 9.30pm(SG), 8.30pm (JKT/TH)

Hotel impossible is a personal favorite of mine, I have actually spent a day watching a marathon of this series. You wouldn’t believe the state of rooms and properties rehabilitated by Anthony Melchiorri and his team.

He is relentless when it comes to getting struggling hotels all over the world back on their feet and on the path to success. His no-nonsense approach may put some owners off, but his advice can transform even the most down-and-out properties. Yet it’s ultimately up to the hotel owners to implement and maintain his changes. This season, Anthony’s management skills, emotions and patience are put to the test once again. Utilizing special experts, hidden cameras, gadgets and technology that test, evaluate and measure different aspects of the hotel, it won’t always be pretty and it will never be easy, but Anthony pushes these owners to get it right. For many, this is their last hope.

    • GHOST ADVENTURES (SEASON 10) – Premieres: 10 July 2016, every Sunday at 8.40pm (SG), 7.40pm (JKT/TH)

Ghost Adventures returns for a spine-chilling tenth season. In each episode, paranormal investigators Zak Bagans and Aaron Goodwin, along with A/V techs Billy Tolley and Jay Wasley, travel to a haunted destination where they meet with locals, eyewitnesses and experts to piece together the haunted history of each site. They then begin a dusk-to-dawn “lockdown” investigation, using the latest scientific gadgets and technology to confront the reported paranormal activity and document key evidence in an effort to uncover the truth behind each haunted mystery.
