How to drown your sorrows…with clothes

It has always been a tried and tested trick. For times when I feel like nothing’s right and work is swallowing me alive — I dress up.

Yes, call it shallow — but there’s just something with looking good that adds bounce to my steps. I might be battling many issues all at the same time, but I vow never to look like a harried office slave. If I shall go down fighting the many impossible (and sometimes, brainless) demands thrown my way, I will go down wearing my favorite black tights, my latest and current favorite Oxford shoes and a pretty little dress!

Here’s what I wore!

Toxic Thursday

My latest favorite Oxfords, old black tights and thrifted dress

Printed mini dress – bought for just PHP100 (about USD 2.50) at my favorite thrift shop
black tights – a piece I always have in my closet, about USD 1
black Oxfords from VNC – bought 50% off during the Christmas sale for just PHP500 (USD 11.90)

I decided to wear my hair in a bun and kept the accessories to a minimum. Somehow, knowing that I don’t look too shabby, especially during this period where work seemed to just occupy my every waking hour. Earning money can be such a bummer sometimes.

The stressful to do list has managed to spill itself over the weekend. I already spent two more hours of overtime work earlier determined to finish pending matters, but finally gave up in the end. It was freaking Friday and I was chained to the desk doing work. Since I know that Friday is just an extension of the horrific Thursday, I decided to cater to my latest hipster obsession and see where it goes:

Freaky Friday

so what do you do when you have a hat, a detachable collar necklace, Oxfords and your favorite shirt?

?????????????????????

Come to think of it, it’s really not as shallow as we’d like to think. In a world where we fight battles everyday and where happiness meant finding your little pockets of sunshine — well, this is it. It’s my own refuge against things I can and can’t control. Somehow, the extra bounce in my step and the compliments that made me smile and, makes dressing up a lot worthwhile.
