The SKY is falling down on me!

Yes, the commercials are entertaining and brings the message across, actually faster than a stinging bee, but were the claims true?

Well, I don’t know about this new kind of service “5 Mbps?”…but the one we are using right now gives new definition to the words “INEFFICIENT”, “USELESS” and “FRUSTRATING”. I had the pleasure of being well acquainted with their Customer Service staff during the Holy Week, and I was afraid that the nonexistent internet service has probably made me sin MORE as opposed to atoning for my past transgressions.

Consider their service: we already had prior complaints regarding their internet service about three weeks ago. After checking about four times, the tech agent advised us to stop using our router because it is the one causing us problems. So, ditched the poor router. Imagine three laptops all vying for one LAN cable. Yes, we line up and gave ourselves surfing hours because we do not have a router. We thought, that was it– problem solved.

But guess what kind of misfortune marked the beginning of the Holy Week for us. We had no service. Again. This inefficiency continued for five days! We were beginning to experience cabin fever (imagine being inside the house with nothing to do for The Holy Week–since we couldn’t be praying all the time, right?) PLUS we have take home work to do, trips to plan and research! It was getting inconvenient for us NOT to have internet connection.

I was the bane of existence of Sky’s 631-0000 Hotline, and well–let’s just say I don’t regret any minute of my wasted time literally going nuts with CSR staff. After all, they didn’t tell me anything concrete. It was an eternity of transferring calls, explaining “we have service maintenance ma’am for your area” which, when you ask them they don’t know shit about, and lastly demanding to speak to the supervisor who gave me empty promises. Yes, I am talking about you Mr. Christopher-Customer-Service-Supervisor-for-Broadband: you promised to send people to look into our problem BUT NO ONE FREAKING CAME.

What pisses me off is that the tech guys had the nerve to re-set our modem which made the problem even worse.

So, if you are thinking of getting a broadband connection for your home, please — I implore you NOT TO GET SKY. I assure you you’re just getting something which will cause you headache. Go for something better…I heard SMART is good, but I have to try it for myself in order to pass judgement.
