Being Human

“Among other things, you’ll find that you’re not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You’re by no means alone on that score, you’ll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You’ll learn from them – if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It’s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn’t education. It’s history. It’s poetry.”

~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

I’ve written about my recent frustrations on how callous and INCONGRUOUSLY STUPID some of my countrymen have become following the unfortunate hostage incident. I hated the fact that people make STUPID jokes out of the tragedy and out of this recent SHIT HOLE our country is currently in. I am tempted to even unfriend quite not a few people in Facebook–I can’t believe I am even friends with this fucking morons. And I refuse to acknowledge that these stupid, callous and unfeeling people are my friends. So far, no casualties yet on the “great purge” but I have hidden a lot of people last night that they no longer appear on my wall.

So, obviously today is Ms. Universe day. (I am a girly-girl but I’m not into beauty pageants).
The Philippines’ bet came in 4th and what do I see when I opened FB? A lot of effing retards complaining that she didn’t win the crowd cos she had (as they say) a “stupid answer” to the question.

Oh God! people I am so tired of you complaining! The Philippines’ haven’t placed in this pageant for God knows how long and this girl placed fourth and you weren’t still fucking happy? COME ON! Maybe you could take her effing place and be the one standing on the effing stage and answer the effing question. I AM SURE YOU HAVE A BRILLIANT ANSWER UP YOUR SLEEVE! Let’s hear it, shall we?

I am sorry if I am ranting again. I just can’t believe how people can be so complaining about everything — about this country, about the law enforcement, about the government, about our countrymen, about our effing BEAUTY QUEENS for pete’s sake!

I am just so sick of how people tend to complain, judge and just be callous and shitty yet not do anything at all to change who they are, where they’re going and how they’re going to change their life and effect society in general. Take me for example, I am sick and tired of working for ten years in this county and wanted to get out. But I will not complain nor degrade my country or its people by saying mean things. I will work hard, I will strive and achieve my dream. That’s what I am gonna do.

The thing with being human is that it’s easy to chuck to human nature any of our failings and our weaknesses–but shouldn’t we be the ones to also affect change?

My own thoughts exactly. I mean, lots of complaints… I didn’t really vote for Noynoy but I hate that people can be so callous as to call him “ugly and stupid” because of the Quirino Grandstand incident. Everyone had faults. But, what we don’t need is to abandon our country when she needs us most.
